Martin Luther King had great faith!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the greatest people who ever lived not because he was a civil rights activist, but because of his great faith!

My Eyes Have Seen the Coming of the Glory of The Lord!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero. Not just because he was a civil rights activist, but because of his great faith! He was advised not to go and march or protest in Memphis, Tennessee by his staff and advisors. They told he to stay home and do not take the risk of being killed. But he refused to listen to their advice and he carried on his mission in the name of the Lord! He was gunned downed the next day after making one of the greatest sermons I have ever heard at a church there. He went there to support city garbage workers who were on strike. They were tired of being treated unfairly. He said he has been to the mountain top and seen the coming on the glory of the Lord! He said he was not concerned about his own life he was more concerned about doing God's will even if it meant death!
Wow! What great faith!

Dr. Martin Luther King gave his last sermon at Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 3, 1968, was the last public appearance before his assassination the next day.  King, in Memphis to support a strike by garbage workers, gives a poignant vision of the victorious future of the civil rights struggle, but without him there to witness its final triumph.  To many in the audience and beyond, King’s speech seemed to predict his own death. - See more at:

This Old House

This is a poem I wrote called "This Old House". It's not about restoration of a house, it's about God restoring our lives! Yes, when you are down and out and  in despair God can restore hope and bring joy back into our hearts!

This Old House
There were once an old house that stood all alone,
it stood condemned but it was once a very beautiful home.
The street was hideous, it ran to a dead end,
it was one of the worse places that I’ve ever been.
There was no plant life only dry barren land;
the only things were there were rocks and blowing sand.
The structure of the house was completely falling apart,
but there was something special about this house
 that really captured my heart.
I knew it was condemned and needed to torn down,
but I knew it could be saved if it was rebuilt from the ground.
 Not long ago it was the most beautiful home you ever saw,
it was like a precious rare diamond without having a flaw.
 Inside, there was a beautiful custom kitchen, bathroom, and den;
I couldn’t believe this jewel was coming to an end.
 I said to myself, “there must be someway
 to save this old majestic home,”
I felt it was possible since the foundation was still strong.
But there was no roof, windows, nor doors,
there were no walls or any floors.
 It appeared to be abandoned forever,
 but that was not the case,
not long ago it was once a very beautiful place.
Incredibly, the house got this way
 because of one guy causing strife,
but I was confident that I could restore it back to life.
It appeared to be far beyond repair,
doing all the work myself was more than I could bear.
After receiving an estimate, I fell to my knees to pray,
 because the job cost far more than I could pay…
I prayed, “O Lord,” I said, “please help me to restore
this old run-down home,
I believe it can be saved since the foundation is strong”…

“Indeed, this house can be saved though
there is not much of it left,
but because I AM a Master Carpenter,
I shall rebuild it from the ground Myself.
I shall not allow this house to be torn down;
it indeed has a solid foundation
 when it was built on the ground.
Because of thy faith, I shall make
this new house thy reward;
the entire structure shall be fully restored!
I can restore it and give it life with the greatest of ease,
 and after it has come to pass, thou shall be well pleased!”

He restored the old house and gave it to me, I’m so thankful He did all the work for free!

                 Inspirational and Spiritual Poetry

We all need inspiration and encouragement. Sometimes just a kind word can be a blessing and it can help us get  through our darkness hour!! During those struggling times, I try to find some inspiring words to share and comfort. A good encouraging word can turn someones life around.

"He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted and proclaim LIBERTY to the captives."
Isaiah 61:1

                                  My Testimony

I was born and raised in Detroit MI. I grew up in an unstable home. My father physically and mentally abused my mother. His abusiveness had an adverse effect on me as well as my siblings. It caused homelessness and a lot of mental anguish. It also caused a great deal of hardship and grief.

As a result, I did not attend school regularly. I developed a leaning disability. I did not like going to school. I could not read and comprehend like other kids in elementary. I struggled though middle school and eventually dropped out in the 9th grade.

 I did not get involved in any criminal activity during this time, but I wasn’t doing anything constructive with my life either. I was not interested in sports or anything else that would make my life better.

 I began smoking marijuana at around sixteen years old. I tried alcohol, but didn’t like the taste or the feeling of being drunk. So I stuck with smoking weed until I meet crack in 1984.

 My life quickly grew out of control. I lied, cheated, and stole to support my crack habit. My only purpose in life was to get high. I lost friends and family members trust and respect. Getting high was all that mattered to me.

 At twenty-seven, I committed my first felony that lead me to prison. It was one of the worse experience s of my life. I was completely lost and did not know or understand just how serious things were.

 As result of my insanity, I went to prison several more times. My last visit was indeed the lowliest and darkest periods in my life. I lost all hope about myself. Despair became my best friend as I sit in the cold jail cell. I thought of ways to end my life because I did not want to go through the pain and suffering anymore. But at my lowest moment, something happened. The Lord came and touched my heart and gave me a reason to continue on.

Today, I use my experience to help inspire and uplift others. I want my poems to glory God and give encouragement and inspiration to the "Brokenhearted"
